NO on Issue 9: Request
September 14th, 2009
CincyPAC has endorsed Cincinnatians for Progress, a group opposed to Issue 9. See the request below:
Dear Rail Supporter,
As the campaign against the COAST ballot initiative enters the home stretch, we need your help. We must ensure that the people repopulating our city are registered to vote and planning to vote in November. This is a key demographic that understands the benefits of passenger rail transit. Accordingly, I’d like to ask you to send the links below (in blue) to likely rail supporters who live in the City of Cincinnati. Everyone must register by Monday, October 5th to be able to vote in the November 3rd election. While you’re at it, make a “City Voters” email group that you can keep adding names to in order to broadcast an email before the election reminding them to vote and how much defeating Issue 9 means to you. And remember, a lot of people vote absentee well in advance of election day.
Please copy and paste the following four lines into an original email and send it to your friends who are city residents:

Second, on one weekend morning or afternoon in mid- to late-October, would you be willing to distribute literature that outlines the case against COAST’s anti-rail ballot issue to your neighbors? Cincinnatians for Progress will ask you to put the literature inside their door (not in the mailbox) and quickly move onto the next house. Apartment buildings are especially easy assuming you live there or know someone who does. Just slip the piece under each door early some morning.
Feel free to define your own territory. The “No on Nine!” campaign is looking for volunteers who can “own” all or part of their neighborhood. For instance, you could say:
“I’ll take care of the area of Hyde Park north of Erie and west of Edwards” — or“My son’s soccer team will distribute to all of the homes in Northside west of Hamilton Avenue.” — or“I’ve recruited several friends to help me cover all of Price Hill.”
Just describe the area you’re willing to cover and send it back to me with an estimate of the number of pieces of literature you’re able to distribute. Set your own goal.
Starting with our city’s biggest rail supporters - you! – we’ll fill in the map and recruit others where gaps appear. But because of your known interest, we’re starting by asking you to make a commitment.
That’s about it. Please ensure that rail supporters who are city residents are registered to vote and agree to distribute literature on one weekend morning or afternoon this fall in an area that you can easily cover. We’ll let you know when and where the literature can be picked up.
The message that the Charter Amendment will kill all rail in Cincinnati is starting to gain traction. Can you help with this?
